In conjunction with JFCS of the Suncoast and Salvation Army, we initiated the first ever Stand Down for homeless veterans in Sarasota, and we continue to co-sponsor the Sarasota Stand Down every year. The Stand Downs have a positive impact on homeless, down-and-out veterans. The Stand Down lifts them up by providing counseling resources for employment, drug or alcohol, legal, and other issues. A hot meal is provided, along with items needed by homeless people such as personal hygiene material, bicycles, and clothing.
